All of my patients are either sick or doing a major dietary overhaul right now and this soup is perfect for both scenarios. It's supportive and healing for the immune system thanks to all of the prebiotic vegetables & bone broth, and also happens to make for a delicious, protein-rich 'detox meal'. FYI adequate protein is essential for phase 2 detoxification so those of you that are downing copious amounts of green juice in an attempt to 'cleanse' your way out of 2023 are doing it wrong (click here for access to my winter reset meal plan! full of warming…

While I'm currently sunning my pale shoulders in a cafe in Mexico (may or may not be sipping on a grapefruit mimosa as I type this) most of you are still battling the cold in Ontario so I'll continue sending cold weather recipes your way until my return. This spicy sweet potato recipe was a regular in my pre-vacation weekday meal prep line up and will make a comeback in my belly as soon as I'm home. It's easy, satisfying and good for my hormones since sweet potatoes contain compounds that boost progesterone levels. Just one sweet potato also contains…

It feels like fall y'all - the air is cool and crisp and I swear I just saw a flake of snow fall outside the window beside me as I type. The days are getting shorter (thank you time change) and my weekly organic delivery box is full of delicious fall produce, including many varieties of squash + the biggest carrots I've ever seen. Squash is the quintessential fall food and I love that this recipe works well with so many different varieties of squash. Seasonal eating is important because it keeps us in alignment with your environment; food is also…

Never not craving a bowl of creamy seafood chowder. This chowder comes together quickly from pantry + freezer staples, and is as easy as chopping up a few alliums, opening a can of coconut milk and tossing in some frozen sustainable seafood. Seafood chowder is a complete meal on its own loaded with shrimp, scallops and fish but I love to serve mine with savoury paleo biscuits for really hungry days. PrintDairy-free Seafood Chowder Creamy, soul-warming chowder packed with protein from sustainable seafood, and completely dairy-free. Ingredients3 medium russet potatoes, cut into 1cm x 1cm squares (approximately) 2 large leeks (white…

Does anyone else feel like it's been raining for an entire year? The past few days in Ontario have been unseasonably gloomy and grey so I'm incorporating all of my tried and true ways to banish the rainy day blues: puppy snuggles, yoga, tons of tea & bright, beautiful warming meals like this sunny af soup. I've been testing various recipes using those beautiful orange cauliflowers from my local farmers market and this one is definitely a winner. In additional to in-season cauliflower it's also loaded with anti-inflammatory turmeric and contains plenty of carotenoids thanks to all them orange vegetables…

It's SOUP SEASON - the most wonderful time of the year. The leaves are starting to change and that cool fall weather that I love so much is slowly moving in. Fall has always been my favourite season; full of beautiful hikes, comfy sweaters and backyard fires with a glass of good scotch. This soup is the perfect way to welcome autumn while taking advantage of all that corn showing up at the farmers markets this time of year. I don't have a ton else to say about this recipe, other than I highly recommend that it be eaten outside in…

To balance the cold of winter this doctor is currently in her tiny Toronto kitchen whipping up a steady stream of hot & spicy Mexican-inspired recipes. In additional to experimenting with a ton of Mexican flavours, most of my cooking as of late also incorporates one or more of these delicious sauces all inspired by my trip to Mexico. PrintSpicy Mexican Chili Oil We learned a variation of this sauce in our Mexican cooking class and I've been tinkering with the ratios at home for a few weeks now. I've finally nailed a version that tastes exactly like the one our…

Keto Laksa Coconut Curry Soup While this coconut curry soup is not a technically a Balinese dish, it definitely captures the same South East Asian flavours that we enjoyed so much on our trip to Bali. Made from coconut milk, a special curry paste called laksa, shrimp and keto noodles, this soup has all the flavours of Bali (with none of the carbs!). Laksa is a paste made from all of my favourite south asian flavours: lemongrass, chilies, shallots, galanga (or ginger), turmeric, spices and dried shrimp. These fresh ingredients are blended up in a food processor then sautéed in a pot…

In honour of the big game this weekend I'm whipping up an extra large batch of my healthy breaded cauliflower bites. These cauliflower 'wings' are insanely delicious ✔️ paleo-friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free and completely guilt-free. Cauliflower is truly one of the world's most underrated health foods, perhaps because this vegetables bland colour makes us think of all the other white foods that we're often told to avoid: white bread, white rice, white sugar. Generally, people don't associate cauliflower with the same abundance of nutrients as its fellow cruciferous vegetables like kale and broccoli, however research shows that cauliflower is just as rich in phytonutrients…

You may have noticed Alison Roman's "the stew" recipe on instagram this week. Her delicious chickpea-based recipe has taken the internet by storm and is a wonderful addition to your weeknight dinner recipe lineup. This recipe is cheap and easy, and comes together in less than an hour from the following simple ingredients: 2 cans of coconut milk, 2 cans of chickpeas, garlic, onion, greens, stock and turmeric spice. While delicious (it has TWO cans of coconut milk - how can you go wrong here), I tweaked the recipe a few times until I came up with a variation that…
